Ginger Mayfield

Ginger Mayfield is an Independent College Advisor who is committed to helping families approach and navigate the college admissions process with purpose and confidence. She founded Mayfield College Advising in 2018 and works with students in the greater Birmingham, Alabama area and beyond.

After graduating from Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga, TN in 2001 and earning an undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University, Ginger began to pursue a Masters in Counseling from the University of Alabama Birmingham. With this degree, she was able to follow in her father’s footsteps and work as a college guidance counselor in a school setting. She travels frequently to colleges across the US, staying up to date with the ever changing college admissions landscape.

Ginger is married to Tommy Mayfield, and together they co-founded Wyndy, a mobile app that connects parents and college babysitters. Ginger and Tommy have two daughters, Polly and Louise.

Meredith Robinson

With a background in higher education (admissions, administration, teaching, and research), Meredith serves as the Director of Operations and Essay Specialist at MCA. She is an Army brat and graduated from high school in England. She holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and French from the University of Virginia as well as a MA and PhD in French Literature and Film Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. She published in her academic field, worked for the OECD in Paris, and completed her Executive MBA from the Quantic School of Business and Technology after working as an Admissions Counselor for the institution.

Meredith and her husband, Graham, live in Mountain Brook with their children, Fleet, Cora Jac, and Wright.

Heather Downey

Following a career as an attorney, Heather serves MCA as our Project Manager. She graduated from Indian Springs School and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University. She then completed her JD at the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University and her LLM in taxation from the University of Denver School of Law.

Heather lives in Mountain Brook with her husband, Ron. They have two daughters, Addison and Reagan, who are now in college.

Katie Morris

After serving as an admissions counselor at a highly selective university, Katie joined MCA as the Application and Interview Specialist. She graduated from Mountain Brook High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the South: Sewanee.

With over a decade of experience, Katie has worked in both Washington D.C. and Virginia before moving back to her hometown in 2019 where her husband, Michael, started Birmingham Concrete Design. They have three kids, Charlie, Evelyn and Crawford.
